Venom 2 had a lot of laughs, bromance, and action that led to a fresh review on Rottentomatoes. But whatever you think of Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, there’s one shocking scene that will stir things up in the Marvel universe and will probably have fans talking for days. What does the Venom 2 mid-credit scene mean for a particular Marvel Studios movie? This is your final warning as this article contains SPOILERS for Venom 2 and the shocking credits scene. Stop reading if you haven’t scene the film.

    Venom 2 Mid-Credit: SPOILER WARNING.

After all the red and black symbiote action has finished, Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom have defeated Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) and turned their love/hate relationship into a solid friendship. Then we see the two hiding out on some tropical island. After a few credits roll, the Venom 2 mid-credit scene starts with Eddie laying in bed while watching TV. Venom tells Eddie about the billion experiences he has had throughout the galaxy and was about to share them with Eddie. Suddenly the TV flickers and there’s an explosion in the sky. The quiet evening turns into daytime. On the screen is now a news report from J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) complaining about Spider-Man as usual.

So far, nothing too shocking since Simmon’s version of Jameson appeared in Sony’s original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Then Simmon’s Jameson shocked fans when he appeared in a credit scene in Sony/Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Far From Home when he revealed Spider-Man’s secret identity is Peter Parker (Tom Holland).

With the shocking Venom 2 mid-credits scene, we see an aspect of Simmon’s Jameson on tv talking about Peter Parker but it happens to be the same report from Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scene with Tom Holland’s face clearly displayed on the screen. Venom walks up to the screen and licks it. Mind blown!

Venom is now in the MCU

It’s no secret Marvel Studios has been planning crossovers as it now directs its path into the Multiverse. In 2019, Marvel Studios president and chief creative officer, Kevin Feige said Spider-Man “happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Even before the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer revealed Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus from the Sony’s Spider-Man 2, casting of several Sony Spider-Man actors like Jamie Foxx (Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Simmons had been known.

There’s persistent rumors that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will make an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Though both actors have denied such rumors.

What makes thing even more exciting for Marvel fans is that the next Doctor Strange movie is titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the No Way Home trailer revealed Strange meddling with magic that set off some kind of Multiversal rift. When Parker and Strange’s attempt at a magic spell that will make people forget Parker is Spider-Man, an explosion occurred. The explosion in Brock’s room in the Venom 2 mid-credits scene might have been the multiverse being opened.

It has been known that this day would come when Sony’s Spider-Verse would cross into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And it is slowly happening. Venom: Let There Be Carnage makes it even more clear. The shocking mid-credits scene has just confirmed that the live-action MCU Multiverse is officially here.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is now in theaters. Make sure to stay for the mid-credit scene!
