Transformers Rise of the Beasts first-look image shows the designs for the G-1 Autobots along with the Decepticons. The live-action films, which were adapted from the ’80s cartoon and toy line of the same name, began back in 2007 when Michael Bay brought the franchise to the big screen. Shia LaBeouf starred in the first three films. Megan Fox was in the first two and left the third film after making some comments about Bay.

Transformers Rise of the Beasts, which is currently in production, is the seventh film in the franchise. 2018’s spin-off film Bumblebee received the highest reviews and director Travis Knight’s choice to bring back the G-1-accurate designs captured the attention from long-time fans. Directed by Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) will continue to use the G-1 designs for Rise of the Beasts.

This film will be based on Transformers: Beast Wars, the animated series from the ’90s. Transformers 7 will serve as a prequel that will introduce several new characters to the live-action Transformers universe. Characters such as Rhinox and Optimus Primal, the leader of the Maximals will be featured. Returning from the Bumblebee movie is Bumblebee and our fearless leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime. Transformers Rise of the Beasts will explore how Optimus Prime devoted his life to protecting humanity.

Steven Caple Jr. posted a first-look image of the designs for the G-1 Transformers on his Instagram. The Autobots are looking pretty close to their cartoon designs especially Optimus Prime. The all-red cab and blue rear along with the silver stripes are very accurate to the G-1 design. A second images shows the Decepticons looking more aggressive with Fast and Furious style Nissan GT-R R-33 and two vehicles looking like they were taken right from Mad Max.

Transformers Rise of the Beasts is set seven years after the events of Bumblebee. It’ll follow two archaeologists who get mixed up in a war between the Maximals, Predacons, and the Terrorcons. The film is set in Brooklyn and Peru. The Instagram post was taken in Machu Picchu.

Transformers Rise of the Beasts will star Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Vélez, Tobey Nwigwe. Peter Cullen will bring his iconic voice back for Optimus Prime while Ron Perlman will voice Optimus Primal. Rise of the Beasts will premiere on June 24, 2022.
