According to Deadline, Sasha Calle from The Young And The Restless has been cast as Supergirl for the upcoming The Flash film by Andy Muschietti. The young Kryptonian is coming to the DC Extended Universe joining Ezra Miller’s Flash, Michael Keaton’s Batman and Ben Affleck’s Batman.

Director Andy Muschietti posted a video on his instagram revealing the news about Calle. She was reportedly one of more than 400 actors who auditioned for the part. Apparently, not even knowing the part those actors were reading for. Calle read with The Flash’s Miller as part of the audition process.

“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,” said Muschietti, who has an eye for finding good talent like all the young actors in the IT movies.

She will be the first Latina actor to play the woman of steel, which is currently played by Melissa Benoist on The CW’s Supergirl in the Arrowverse. Helen Slater played Supergirl in the 1984 movie, who actually plays Benoist adoptive mother, Eliza Danvers, on The CW show.

Calle plays Lola Rosales on The Young And The Restless and was nominated for Outstanding Young Performer in a Drama series at the Daytime Emmys last year. She also stared on YouTube’s Socially Awkward miniseries.

Not much else has been revealed about the upcoming The Flash movie. Though some other big news came out a few months ago about Michael Keaton’s Batman joining the film along with Ben Affleck and his version of Batman. It’s been reported that this film opens up the DC multiverse on the big screen. On TV, The CW first introduced the DC Multiverse with its Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover between Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow shows. Ezra Miller even had a brief cameo when he appeared in front Grant Gustin’s Flash.

From Soaps to capes, See Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in The Flash, which is set to premiere on November 4th, 2022.
