The Book of Boba Fett trailer was released this morning revealing the galaxy’s most infamous bounty hunter and the Star Wars criminal underworld. The Mandalorian spinoff show will hit the Disney+ streaming platform in late December.

Many fans of the franchise have been waiting for a moment like this. Boba Fett has been one of Star Wars’ most popular characters since being introduced. With just a little bit of screen time and speaking lines in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Fett still became one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars franchise.

The Boba Fett character was later expanded in depth in subsequent Star Wars books, an introductory backstory in the prequel trilogy, and eventually, the entire birth of the fan-favorite Mandalorian culture that’s lead to Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian series. While there has been rumors for years about Boba Fett having his own show, it wasn’t until a post-credit scene following The Mandalorian season two finale that confirmed the bounty hunter is finally getting his own series.

The Book of Boba Fett is set right after The Mandalorian post-credit scene left off, where viewers saw Fett (Temuera Morrison) along with fellow bounty hunter Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), killing Bib Fortuna and reclaiming the palace and territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt. The upcoming Disney+ series appears to follow Fett and Shand’s efforts to bring order to Tatooine’s criminal underworld.

The Book of Boba Fett is just the first of several planned spinoffs from The Mandalorian. Disney and Lucasfilm are working on the Ahsoka Tano series as well as Rangers of the New Republic, which will cross over into the original series in the future in a “climactic story event.”

Other upcoming Star Wars shows are set to hit the streaming platform in the future including Rogue One prequel Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lando, The Acolyte, and new seasons of The Bad Batch and The Mandalorian.

The Book of Boba Fett is scheduled to premiere December 29th on Disney+. For now you can check out the iconic Star Wars character in the first The Book of Boba Fett trailer below.
