The Book of Boba Fett officially has a premiere date on Disney Plus. Disney confirmed earlier today that the spinoff show from the hit series The Mandalorian will debut on Decemember 29, 2021. The show is based on the popular bounty hunter introduced in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Boba Fett chased Han Solo and friends across the galaxy until he finally captured the smuggler and put him frozen carbonate.

The Book of Boba Fett was first teased after the conclusion of The Mandalorian’s season 2 finale. There were a few surprise characters in the second season. Temuera Morrison will reprise his role as Boba Fett, and Ming-Na Wen as his accomplice, Fennec Shand.

Wen first played her character in Season 1 of The Mandalorian and provided the voice for the animated version of Fennec Shand in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Morrison began his time in the Star Wars Universe in the prequel film Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, where he played the role of Jango Fett — Boba Fett’s father. Jango was used to create the clone army of the Republic. He would return in Revenge of the Sith as a number of clone troopers. Morrison would then take over as the iconic role in season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson will all serve as executive producers on The Book of Boba Fett.

There are multiple live-action Star Wars shows in the works for Disney Plus. Asides from The Book of Boba Fett and the third season of The Mandalorian, there is Ahsoka Tano with Rosario Dawson reprising her role from The Mandalorian and Andor with Diego Luna reprising his role from Rogue One.

Probably the one that fans are looking forward to the most is the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Ewan McGregor is set to come back as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
