Miles Morales is about to go on another trip through the Spider-Verse. Sony has released the official trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — the follow-up to the critically-acclaimed 2018 animated film Into the Spider-Verse.

The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer begins with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), who is slightly older now, talking to his mom. She’s worries that he’s not her little boy anymore. After flashback footage from Into the Spider-Verse, new footage shows Miles and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) traveling through different universes and running into alternate Spider-Men. There’s even a first look at Issa Rae’s motorcycle-riding Spider-Woman, Jorma Taccone’s Vulture and Spider-Man 2099 voiced by Oscar Isaac.

After an emotional and touching message from his mom, the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer cuts to Miles Morales being chased and attacked by dozens of the alternate Spider-Men. It seems as if Spider-Man 2099’s world is all out of sorts and Miles and Gwen argue about who the real heroes are.

“Who do you think you are, really?” he asks Gwen. “We are supposed to be the good guys,” she replies. “We are,” the elder Spider-Man replies, over footage of him slamming Miles to the ground with a red webbing.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduced casual Marvel fans to Miles Morales, a teen who is bitten by spider and learns to be a hero after his universe’s Peter Parker (Chris Pine) dies. During that time, he joins with other versions of Spider-Man from parallel universes to save the world from Kingpin (Liev Schreiber). Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was highly praised for its style of animation and took home an Oscar for best animated feature at the 91st Academy Awards. The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer reveals more of that stunning and creative animation.

Along with Moore and Steinfeld are Oscar Isaac and Jake Johnson reprising their roles from Into the Spider-Verse as Migeul O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 and Peter B. Parker. Issa Rae will voice Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman. Daniel Kaluuya will voice Hobart “Hobie” Brown aka Spider-Punk. Jorma Taccone will voice Vulture and Jason Schwartzman will voice Spot.

Across the Spider-Verse will debut in theaters June 2, 2023 and its sequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is set to release on March 29, 2024.
