The Lord of the Rings fans finally get to see the long-awaited teaser trailer for Prime Video’s The Rings of Power. Amazon’s streaming service shared the first full-length trailer for its upcoming eight-part epic.

The new trailer for Prime Video’s The Rings of Power introduces audiences to epic realms that will be explored in the multi-season prequel series that serves as a retelling of the Second Age of Middle Earth. Featured in the trailer are the Elven realms of Lindon and Eregion, The Dwarven realm of Khazad-dûm, the Sundering Seas, the Southlands, the Northenmost Wastes, and the island kingdom of Númenór. For sure, this series is nothing short of grand.

While fans of the The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies are familiar with the  Elven realms and Dwarven mines, the Second Age takes place before Hobbiton was established. It is when multiple “breeds” of Hobbits still roamed Middle Earth. The Rings of Power focuses on the Hartfoots that being their journey as a mysterious “darkness” threatens to “overtake the earth.”

“Darkness will march over the face of the earth,” one character says. “It will be the end not just of our people, but all peoples.”

Prime Video’s The Rings of Power will feature both new characters and younger versions from The Lord of the Rings Universe such as Aragorn’s ancestor Isildur played by Maxin Baldry, Arwen’s father King Elrond played by Robert Aramayo, the Elven warrior Galadriel played by Morfydd Clark. Galadriel mentions she has seen things Elrond has not seen.

Galadriel, who was previously played by Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok) in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy appears to be the central hero in The Rings of Power. The series showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay confirmed earlier this year that The Rings of Power will also focus on the rise of Sauron in addition to forging the rings.

Payne and McKay said in a statement that The Rings of Power “unites all the major stories of Middle-Earth’s second age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.”

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premieres September 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video. You can watch the new trailer below. You can also watch the first teaser here.
