The first time fans saw Robert Pattinson’s Batman in action was at last year’s DC FanDome when director Matt Reeves revealed the first teaser trailer for The Batman which sent the internet on a frenzy. Yesterday, during DC FanDome 2021, Warner Bros. and DC dropped the newest trailer for The Batman. It revealed a more-intense and nastier Gotham than ever seen before looking more like a murder-mystery on an adrenaline rush.

Pattinson’s Batman is shown fighting quite an amount of thugs in the newest trailer for The Batman. The trailer shows an aggressive and intense Batman fighting a gang dressed like clowns, a car chase against The Penguin (Colin Farrelll), and a masked killer live-streaming a message to Gotham’s citizens. Fans got a glimpse at the kind of protection Batman’s armor provides as bullets bounce off his chest plate. We also got a taste of how tough the Batmobile is in the latest trailer.

The newest trailer for The Batman starts with police arresting a man at a diner and the camera slowly zooms in on a mug revealing a question mark in the coffee’s foam. Fans can assume that the man arrested was The Riddler (Paul Dano). This sets the tone for the rest of the trailer. The trailer shows Pattinson’s version of Batman to be a little bit for moody and out of control.

“The delineation between when he’s Batman and when he’s Bruce is not so clear,” Pattinson said before the unveiling of the trailer at DC FanDome on Saturday. “In other iterations… he really knows what he’s doing when he’s putting on the cowl. I kind of really like this idea that he’s a little bit out of control. He hasn’t completely defined what Batman is. He gets lost in it. … He’s not sleeping, and he’s becoming this quite sort of odd creature.”

Though we got to see a lot of action in the newest trailer of The Batman, not much else is known about the plot. But we do know this film is set during Bruce Wayne’s early years as the Caped Crusader.

The Batman director Matt Reeves said in the introduction to the The Batman trailer that this version would be a grounded Batman story, set early in his fight against Gotham’s criminal underworld. Pattinson said the film will feature the young, brooding Bruce Wayne in a state of desperation.

The Batman is set to debut in theaters March 4, 2022. Watch the newest trailer for The Batman from DC FanDome below.
