Marvel Studios’ Eternals Arrive on Disney+

The Eternals have arrived. This time in homes. Marvel Studios’ Eternals, the latest MCU superhero team movie is now streaming on Disney+.

Disney released the Marvel film in November following delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes it the first Marvel Studios movie to premiere in theaters only since the pandemic began. Today, it’s available to stream at home for anyone who subscribes to Disney+.

Marvel Studios’ Eternals home media release comes with newly revealed deleted scenes. One of them mentioned Thanos and the Avengers and another offering some revelation about dinosaurs. The film made $164.8 million at the domestic box office and $237 million internationally for a combined $401.8 million. Even with some international markets banning the film due to some of its adult material, Eternals was still able to haul in a lot of money for Disney.

Marvel’s Eternals might have brought big numbers to the global box office, but its reviews among critics weren’t as exciting. Eternals is the lowest-rated Marvel Studios movie on Rotten Tomatoes and the studios first rotten score. Eternals director Chloé Zhao didn’t seem to let the low tomato score bother her as she continued to discuss certain content of the movie that some people may have found inappropriate for a superhero film from Disney.

Marvel Studios producer Victoria Alonso previously brushed off the negative reviews. “We have tried to stir it up and sometimes the critics are not with us. That’s OK. That’s OK…,” Alonso said at Outfest Legacy Awards via Variety. “We thank you for being a critic. We thank you for writing about us. And the fans will decide.”

Marvel Studios’ Eternals introduced a new group of superheroes to the MCU. These ancient cosmic beings have lived on Earth in secret for thousands of years. But following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected turn of events forces the team to reunite against the Deviants — humanity’s most ancient enemy.

Eternals stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie.
