The Walking Dead fans are anxious to find out what comes next between Maggie and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in TWD’s season 11. TWD star Lauren Cohan says the final season is “the most fun I’ve ever had on this show.” Lauren Cohan first appeared as Maggie Greene in season 2 of The Walking Dead and stayed on the show until exiting during the the middle of season 9. Maggie returned just in time to see the end of the Whisperer Wain in season 10. Maggie is now back full-time to finish off the series in the eleventh and final season of AMC zombie drama series. The question is now — how will Maggie and Negan co-exist inside the same walls?

“That’s what we’re gonna unpack this year. So if there’s a feeling that could be had, we’ll probably spend some time on that feeling, and then we’ll move onto another one. It’s crazy. It’s honestly crazy.” Lauren Cohan added, “It’s been the most fun I’ve ever had on this show, in terms of just cruising through this ocean of what you want to do and what you can do, and where she’s been.”

The eight years of horror Maggie experienced will come to light in the two-part season premiere, “Acheron: Part I” and “Archeron: Part II,” where Negan and Maggie will lead the survivors on a mission through a subway tunnel filled with walkers.

It’s not just the flesh eating dead that threatens the lives of the survivors. It’s the squad of killers called the Reapers who have hunted down Maggie’s group since her return.

Lauren Cohan’s Maggie still has a score to settle years after allowing Negan to live behind bars instead of executing her husband’s (Steven Yeun) killer. Maggie’s story in The Walking Dead’s Final Season “certainly isn’t just about that [Maggie vs. Negan],” according to executive producer Scott Gimple.

“Seeing this kind of leader emerge from the apocalypse, forged by the apocalypse, I think that’s her story,” the Walking Dead Universe chief content officer said during a live stream with TWD Universe. “I think Negan is an unbelievable complication to that, but to hit it one more time, it doesn’t define her.”

See Lauran Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and more when the Final Season of The Walking Dead premieres August 15 on AMC+ and August 22 at 9/8 central on AMC.
