Joker 2 which is officially titled Joker: Folie à Deux is officially in the works and is set to be released in 2024. As previously reported, the sequel will star Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. She joins Joaquin Phoenix who will be reprising his role as the Joker. Reports also say that the upcoming DC film will be a dark musical. Warner Bros. definitely has brought in the actor who can act, sing, and dance. The question is, how much is the Joker 2 salary for Lady Gaga?

According to a new report by Variety, Lady Gaga is getting a huge paycheck for Joker 2. Joaquin Phoenix is believed to be getting paid $20 million as well as director Todd Phillips. Co-star Lady Gaga is getting $10 million. Those salaries combined with the rest of production costs makes Joker 2’s budget roughly around $150 million.

That’s a big jump from 2019’s Joker. The first film felt more like a small budget indie film which gave it that major appeal. Warner Bros. initially marketed Joker more like being part of a film festival before making their big marketing push. Joker: Folie à Deux will now be a big-budget comic book movie.

“I wasn’t really surprised by that. Todd has always had a creative approach to the character. I love musicals, and I think of them as the characters are feeling and experiencing so much that they can only sing and dance about it, whether in sorrow or in joy,” said returning star Zazie Beetz about Joker 2 being a musical. “And I can actually see that within myself as well, because singing and dancing is quite a cathartic experience for me. I was going through a really, really difficult time at one point in my life, and I just started dancing and crying by myself. And that was an expression that matched where I was at that moment. And so, I can see Arthur, who is feeling and experiencing so much, dancing and singing about it. He’s the Joker, so I think it makes sense to me.”

Confirmed Joker 2 cast includes Joaquin Phoenix as Joker, Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, and Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond. Joker: Folie à Deux premieres in theaters October 4, 2024.
