Kit Harington will probably be synonymous with his Game of Thrones character, Jon Snow, for a while. At least until he settles into his new MCU role as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight in Marvel’s Eternals. Harington played Jon Snow for eight straight seasons and has immersed himself in Westeros for so long that, even as a prequel, it’s probably going to feel weird when he watches a whole new group of actors starring in the Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon on HBO.

Kit Harington Opens Up About House of The Dragon

Kit Harington spoke to Insider recently and shared that there might be “a bit of a pain” involved. “There’s emotion connected to that for me,” the Game of Thrones actor said. “I think to see people get into outfits and costumes that resemble what we wore for all those years and it have the same music and style and tone but not be in it…there’s gonna be a rawness there.”

“Of course I’m gonna watch it and I’m gonna support Miguel, who’s helming the show, and I wish them all the best…It’s so close to my heart, that story, that of course there might be a bit of pain there,” Harington added.

Miguel Sapochnik directed Harington in some Game of Thrones episodes like “Hardhome,” “Battle of the Bastards,” and “The Long Night.” Sapochnik and Ryan Condal will serve as the showrunners for House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon Will Have “A Different Tone” Than Game of Thrones

The prequel show will be set hundred of years before Kit Harington’s Jon Snow was born. It will center around the conflict, Dance of the Dragons, between the different members of the Targaryen family and their dragons. Harington did mention that it will have similarities to Game of Thrones, but Sapochnik said that it will have “a different tone.”

House of the Dragon is scheduled debut on HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2022. In the meantime, you can catch Kit Harington as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight in Marvel’s Eternals on November 4th in theaters only. You can check out the first House of the Dragon trailer here.
