John Cena’s Peacemaker show, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad spin-off series on HBO Max, scores high on Rotten Tomatoes, putting it up there with some of the best DC shows on TV now. As it is the first DC spin-off, fans are biting their nails in anticipation for the series to come.

Thanks to the wild-looking trailers, Peacemaker looks as if it could be the craziest DC show yet. John Cena returns to play Peacemaker himself, as well as other memorable Task Force X characters from The Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn. Already, it has scored a whopping 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the third-highest score of all the DC shows on the CW and even HBO Max. The show is clearly hitting the ground running and fans can’t wait to see how it progresses.

The only CW shows that can touch it, with a score in the higher 80s, are The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Superman and Lois. The latter DC shows sit at 88, while the prior two sit at 89. Still—it isn’t 90! Despite this incredible scoring, DC’s Stargirl sits comfortably at 94 percent, with Doom Patrol leading the squad at 97. At least fans will know what to watch while waiting for more Peacemaker episodes to come out!

Most of the latest show’s reviews are early, with only 32 reviews out overall. Once the premiere airs, it could swing either way—which is up to the fans and other dedicated critics and watchers. Reviews for TV work on a different trajectory to movies, as audience members and other avid watchers are more likely to influence the show’s ratings and scores.

Either way, Peacemaker is off to a fantastic start with critics and trailers, as larger, more epic moments have already been teased for fans. Perhaps it can even catch Stargirl or Doom Patrol after it officially airs? The show is certainly continuing DC’s long-standing tradition to create and release acclaimed television and strong programming.
