The Walking Dead sneak peek shows an unrevealed character standing next to Dog as Daryl approaches both of them. It seems that Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Dog reunite with an old friend in The Walking Dead’s Final Season Episode titled, “Rendition,” which is now streaming on AMC+.

After surviving the Reaper attack from last week’s episode “Hunted,” which left Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) group who were on the road to Meridian scattered, Daryl and Dog find themselves on their own. Daryl covers himself with walker guts as the Walking Dead sneak peek cuts to a red-and-white skull-faced Reaper that seems to be stalking him. It’s the same mask highlighted in one of the TWD season 11 trailers. Dog picks up a familiar scent in the scene.

The official synopsis for The Walking Dead fourth episode reads, “Daryl and Dog get captured by the Reapers and are taken to the Meridian and reconnect with someone.”

“There’s a very Blackwater sort of vibe to that group. They’re very professional. They know how to kill,” Reedus said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly while talking about the new villains in the final season. “They know how to take care of themselves. They have a certain tactical skill set that we’ve never come across before. So they’re used to pain, they’re used to fighting through it.”

The upcoming episode will introduce Pope, who isn’t seen in The Walking Dead sneak peek. Played by series newcomer Ritchie Coster, Pope is the leader of the Reapers who marked Maggie in season 10 bonus episode, Home Sweet Home.”

“There’s a leader of that group, a guy named Pope who was mentioned in the little mini-episodes we did during COVID. And that guy is a really good character,” Reedus said. “And that actor, Ritchie Coster, that played him is really good. So there’s an intensity that’s almost like the hand of God has put into him. It’s very Boondock Saints, to be honest. You just can’t stop him. And the group that he has is very good at what they do.”

The Walking Dead episode 4, “Rendition” is now streaming on AMC+ and airs September 12 on AMC. Check out the The Walking Dead sneak peek below.
