Doctor Strange 2 director Sam Raimi won’t confirm if fans will see Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Marvel’s next upcoming film.

Marvel Studios has done a great job incorporating the multiverse in its latest films but hiding which character would show up before their release is another challenge. The studio tried their best to hide Andrew Garfield’s involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home after behind the scenes footage of Garfield leaked online.

A TV spot for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was published by Marvel Studios Canada. The 10-second clip teases Peggy Carter as Captain Carter fighting Wanda Maximoff. There was another quick glimpse of what could be Superior Iron Man which is rumored to be played by Tom Cruise. But what excited fans the most was a shot of Professor X’s classic yellow chair with his arm resting on it. Then you can hear a very familiar Patrick Stewart Voice saying, “Let’s see what kind of Doctor Strange you are.”

Marvel Studios is very strict about spoilers. Doctor Strange 2 director Sam Raimi told Fandango, “I couldn’t promise you that Patrick Stewart’s in the picture. That’s all that Marvel will let me say.”

Marvel has since removed the Doctor Strange 2 TV Spot with Professor X but CoveredGeekly has posted it on youtube. You can watch it below.

As for Patrick Stewart, he seems a little less worried about giving some details regarding if it was his voice in the previous trailer.

Stewart told CBR, “Well, I had my phone turned off as it happened, so I didn’t hear anything. It wasn’t until the next morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I had been bombarded with responses and that my PR people had sent me reactions that they had detailed and passed onto me.”

He added, “I actually didn’t recognize my own voice, it sounded different. Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don’t know. But I was astonished, and all they saw was the back of my shoulder, and I think my earlobe, nothing else. There would have been so many connections made. But, uh, it pleased me.”

We’ll have to wait and see when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres this Friday, May 6 in theaters only.
